Parliamentary Finance Committee member Saad al-Tubi announced that Finance Minister Taif Sami informed committee members, during a meeting hosted by her today, Sunday, that a special committee had been formed by the Prime Minister to prepare the tables for the 2025 general budget law.
Al-Tubi told Shafaq News Agency that this specialized government committee is currently preparing the budget tables, and that it will submit its report to the Council of Ministers for a vote before sending it to the House of Representatives.
He added that available information on the budget remains limited in terms of revenues and expenditures, and he expected the tables to be completed and submitted to Parliament within the next month.
Earlier today, the Iraqi Parliament hosted Finance Minister Taif Sami to discuss the reasons for the delay in submitting the budget schedules to the Council of Representatives.
A parliamentary source told Shafaq News Agency that the meeting also discussed the mechanism for implementing the government program of the Ministry of Finance, and the implementation of the general budget law for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025.
It’s worth noting that the head of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Atwan Al-Atwani, had extended an official invitation last Wednesday to host the Minister of Finance at the committee’s office to discuss three main topics related to the implementation of the government program, the three-year budgets, and the preparation of the 2025 budget schedules.
