A dinar broker may charge a higher commission fee than a bank. I’m not bashing anyone or any brokers…Would I personally go to a broker to exchange? I wouldn’t. I prefer to go to a bank…I bank with one of the largest banks out there…Most large banks have private banks…My bank’s private bank has a minimum to enter in requirement of $10 million…The bank won’t make any money off of me from the angle of the exchange. Speaker of Parliament is on the television saying the election process with the president will take place on April 11th. They say there will be no postponement of any kind. It looks like they’re trying to reassure the United States…The television says anyone that does not show up for the vote on the 11th with have their names revealed on the television so some of the pressure is on them to show up…and cost them 1 million dinars if they are not there. 4-7-2026 Newshound Guru Steve Right now there is a gap of roughly 20% between the actual exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar and what the people are paying for it on the street. The official exchange rate according to the CBI is about 1310 dinars to $1. On the secondary market the dinar is trading about 1545 dinars to the US dollar…The last time that happened…the central bank was forced to intervenes and change the rate. I’m not saying this signals a revaluation tomorrow or this month or anytime soon. But what this is telling us is Iraq is being forced to make some monetary changes in the near future. Read more…

4-6-2026 Newshound Guru Steve Iraq went from producing 3.3 million barrels of oil…to about 900,000 barrels of oil per day. That’s about a 70% decrease in oil. That’s a very very large problem if 80% of your countries revenue is through oil…They don’t even have the capability to borrow money to make up the difference because…they don’t have a parliament in place. They constitutionally can’t borrow money without a functioning government …Even though this sounds like Iraq is screwed I think this is actually going to play right into their hands in a positive way because they’re being forced to find alternative methods to export their oil…land routes. Iraq actually has no legal authority to borrow… Government formation takes months. There is no borrowing mechanism. Meanwhile the parallel market is stretching. Street rate hit 1,545 dinars per dollar. Official rate is 1,310. That’s an 18% gap. And the second widest since 2003. The last time the gap exceeded 12%, the CBI changed the rate within weeks. February 2023. Moved from 1,460 to 1,310 overnight. No vote. No warning. The current gap is larger than the one that triggered that adjustment…The math doesn’t work at a program rate. Because if nothing changes, I don’t think Iraq has that much time. I look at how Iraq has been managing the money supply over these years. That is key. They are having these currency auctions every single week for the last 20 years to pull in as many physical dinar notes as possible. Why have they been going through the trouble of doing that when they could have just redenominated their currency years ago if that was truly the plan? They haven’t.
