8-5-2013  Guru BGG [Do you think Maliki is playing ball with the IMF?] not only is he playing – he’s the PITCHER!! several very good sources all agree – that Maliki is the one trying to get this done (ironically) and at a bit higher rate than the rest – he’s wanting above 2 bucks. [Why is Maliki suddenly playing ball?] obviously – he’s in a bad way. The environment in Iraq is NOT what most are saying, it is normal for Iraq and the People are not rioting as we speak. I for one do not trust the media…we even have a translator to view articles and documents. I cannot explain why suddenly the Iraq contacts have gone silent and anything else would be speculation. 7-31-2013 Newshound Guru Enorrste Article: “Iraqi economist Mohammad Saleh appearance of time live market breakdown and impasse of 2014 is not valid for Exchange” Quote: “The answer is, no, it’s the year parliamentary elections, and not in political stability, replacing the currency in 2014 is questionable.” This is the most direct statement that we have seen from Saleh on this matter…What he is telling us is that our currency will remain legal tender until at least 2014 and then beyond. In addition, however, he is stating that our currency will not even begin to be replaced until after the next election in March 2014. The fact that he states that the process of “removing the three zeros” must take place at the beginning of a fiscal year makes 1/1/2015 the earliest date for that process to begin. Read more…

And if the excuse is “political stability” next year is an election year and they will use that as an excuse as well. He also says at the end, that the GOI is afraid to open the economy because they are afraid they will take all their capital and leave Iraq. 7-28-2013 Intel Guru MntGoat I wish I had some better news but the IMF contact was not optimistic in us seeing this prior to maybe next Thursday Aug 1st. He also said its not like there is even a track anymore to follow so I can’t say “its right on track” anymore. There is nothing else to do but wait for the timing unless other issues crop up. The good news is that the rates that are being pushed down to the banks are very high and it almost knocked me over when I was told. I reached out and confirmed the Plan A – Plan B scenario. To review – Plan A was the initial offer to the IMF that they declined. 7-24-2013 Newshound Guru Enorrste Referencing IMF Documents: I’m pleased that the IMF thinks the fixed rate has been a success. Whoopee. At the same time, I hate it when they say the status quo should be maintained “for the foreseeable future.” Let’s hope they cannot see very far. On the positive side, though, they are clearly calling for Iraq to prepare to float its currency. It really can’t get much clearer than that. “to accommodate a possible real exchange rate appreciation.” It would appear that the IMF is expecting a gradual rise over time to some level, after which they will do an actual RV to a “real exchange rate.” How cool would that be? 7-21-2013 Intel Guru Ray Was talking to a contact of mine in Baghdad and got the following info. He said, according to various media reports, that the World Bank gave their approval to the CBI for the revalue. He also stated that the IMF gave their approval yesterday. He also stated that an area is being built in Baghdad for the media that is coming for some big announcement being made sometime next week. He also said that there are banking officials from various countries that are constantly coming and going to the CBI. The people are still being told daily that the rv is imminent. I know a lot of people are saying that the UN will be making the announcement of the rv. I remember Maliki saying a few years ago that he would be the one making the announcement.
