Former MP Hassan Fad’am confirmed that the American administration cannot interfere in the matter of choosing the prime minister, but rather it is looking for the personality that meets its demands and achieves its interests and projects inside Iraq.
Fadaam told Al-Maalouma, “Iraq is not used to reaching such high levels of foreign or specifically American interference that a candidate for prime minister is rejected or that Washington imposes itself and its will in forming the government.”
He added that “the American administration is putting forward a point of view regarding some figures, but at the level of selection, the decision is Iraqi regarding the figure who will assume the premiership for the next stage.”
He explained that “the American side seeks to preserve its interests within Iraq and ensure their implementation without obstruction, thus pushing for the appointment of a prime minister who will safeguard its interests, companies, and projects within Iraq.”
