Shafaq News/ Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed on Monday that the strategic framework agreement represents a roadmap for developing future relations between Iraq and the United States.
This came during his meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, as part of his official visit to the United States of America.
During the meeting, efforts to lay the foundations for long-term joint relations, and activate the strategic framework agreement and the supreme joint coordination committee between the two countries, were discussed.
A number of economic aspects and investment opportunities for American companies were also discussed, especially in the fields of energy, and the possibility of expanding the partnership with the Iraqi private sector in areas important to the Iraqi market, and cooperation at various levels that are in the interest of the two countries.
The Prime Minister referred to the bilateral understanding regarding many issues, stressing that the strategic framework agreement represents a roadmap for developing future relations between Iraq and the United States.
The meeting also witnessed discussion of the most important issues in the region, and what is happening in Gaza, as His Excellency renewed Iraq’s clear position on the aggression, stressing the joint legal and moral responsibility for protecting unarmed civilians, and the importance of supporting efforts seeking to prevent the expansion of the conflict, and preventing more casualties among the ranks. Palestinian people.
For his part, Minister Blinken welcomed the Prime Minister’s visit, stressing the US administration’s support for Iraq’s positions in the region, stressing that it supports the presence of a strong, democratic Iraq, which supports regional and international stability efforts, and Iraq’s steps to develop relations with neighboring countries.
Blinken indicated that Washington supports Iraq’s development and reform steps, and the trend towards gas investment and the development of the energy sector and infrastructure, expressing his hope that this visit will lead to more cooperation between the two countries.
