State of Law coalition member Omran Karkush said on Monday that his coalition is not satisfied with the 2024 budget schedules, and if they remain as they are, we will not vote on them.
Karkush said in a statement to the Maalouma Agency, “The state of law demanded that the budget be raised from the share of the center and the south, especially after the injustice that occurred,” noting that “the state of law will not vote on the budget unless it is amended.”
He continued, “Work on amending the budget is currently underway in the House of Representatives in order to reach agreements and vote on them,” stressing that the budget will be passed in today’s session after the last amendment.
Representative Intisar Al-Moussawi said earlier that the budget neglects the rights of Basra and the support its oil fields represent amounting to 85% of the country’s budget, which we will not vote on, stressing that the budget underestimated the rights of the southern provinces.
