Issam Shaker, a member of the State of Law Coalition, commented today, Saturday, on the position regarding the coalition’s support for its leader, Nouri al-Maliki, as a candidate for prime minister.
Shaker told Al-Maalouma, “Nouri al-Maliki is a pivotal figure in the Iraqi political landscape. He served two consecutive terms as prime minister during critical times for Iraq, and his achievements are undeniable, particularly in the security and services sectors.” He added
, “The Dawa Party’s consensus on supporting him as a prime ministerial candidate is a legitimate right that many political forces are engaging with.” He further stated, “Al-Maliki’s extensive network of relationships and accumulated experience make his presence at the head of the next government extremely important, especially given the current challenges in the region.” He emphasized, “We support his candidacy for the premiership, and this matter is now open to all other political forces.”
