Source - The crisis of delayed salary payments will be repeated in IraqShafaq News/ An informed source stated today, Sunday, that the delay in disbursing the salaries of Iraqi retirees for the current month of January is due to a shortage of cash liquidity.

The source said in an interview with Shafak News Agency, “The delay in disbursing retirees’ salaries is due to the lack of cash liquidity and the scarcity of money,” indicating that “this crisis will be repeated in the coming months for employees and retirees.”

The source expected that “the salaries of retirees for the month of January will be distributed during this week until the financial liquidity is available.”

Earlier today, Sunday, the Iraqi Retirement Authority sent a reassuring message to civilian and military retirees in the country, that their salaries are fully secured, and that the delay was due to the New Year’s holiday.

A source in the Iraqi Ministry of Finance had expected, at the end of 2024, that the disbursement of salaries for civilian and military retirees for the month of January 2025 would be delayed.

The source told Shafaq News Agency at the time that “it is likely that the release of salaries for retirees, both civilians and military personnel, for the month of January will be delayed, coinciding with the New Year’s holiday, and the necessary amounts will not be funded due to the lack of financial liquidity.”
