A security source in Anbar Governorate revealed, on Friday, that 3 US Army soldiers were killed and wounded, following the targeting of Ain al-Asad Air Base, west of Anbar.
The source said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “Leaked information indicates that three Americans were killed following the targeting of the Ain al-Asad air base in the Al-Baghdadi district of Hit district, west of Anbar, by drones and missiles. The wounded were transported by American aircraft to an unknown location.”
He added, “The attack on Ain al-Assad base also resulted in material damage to buildings belonging to the American army inside the base building, and the extent of the losses was not determined due to the strict measures taken by the American forces.”
He stressed that “the American forces imposed a security cordon on the base building and prevented the security forces from approaching the entrance to the base.”
On Wednesday (October 18, 2023), the Iraqi Islamic Resistance claimed responsibility for targeting the American bases in Ain al-Assad and Harir in Iraqi Kurdistan, while the American forces vowed more operations, stressing that they would not stand by and watch the genocide taking place against the Palestinians in Gaza.
