Silver prices hit a record high reaching 84.62 per ounceInformation / Baghdad…
The price of an ounce of silver rose by 7.78%, equivalent to $6.10, reaching $84.62, while the price of a kilogram of silver reached $2,720 in global markets, according to data released today.
This increase came after the decline in the value of the dollar following the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn some of the sweeping tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, prompting investors to seek precious metals as a safe haven.
Trump responded immediately to the decision by announcing a 10% increase in tariffs on trading partners, at a time when US economic data showed GDP growth of 1.4% in the fourth quarter, lower than expected, while the core personal consumption expenditures rate remained stable at 3%.
Industrial demand for silver and escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly between the United States and Iran, also contributed to pushing the price of silver higher, given its role as a safe haven and its faster price volatility compared to gold.
