Sexual harassment topples Davos Forum founderShafaq News/ The World Economic Forum announced on Monday the immediate resignation of its founder, Klaus Schwab (87 years old), from his position as president and member of the organization’s Board of Trustees.

This move came after media reports of allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment within the institution.

In June 2024, The Wall Street Journal revealed complaints from employees accusing the forum’s management, led by Schwab, of creating a work environment “hostile toward women and people of color,” based on interviews with more than 80 people and internal documents. Employees also reported that Schwab made lewd comments to several female employees.

Semafor reported last May that Schwab would step down from his position as president of the forum to take a non-executive role. The World Economic Forum, founded in Davos, is an international platform for public-private sector collaboration to address global issues.

It is noteworthy that Schwab, the German economist, founded the forum in 1971 and chaired it for more than five decades, while his wife, Hilde, participated in many of his projects.
