On Monday, Member of the Finance Committee, Representative Mustafa Sanad, considered the failure to send the 2024 budget schedules, despite the end of the fiscal year, a government violation.
Sanad said in a statement to the Maalouma Agency, “What is being talked about in the media is inaccurate, and we do not know the size of revenues and exports, so we do not know the size of the budget deficit,” noting that “not sending the budget tables to Parliament is a government violation.”
He added, “Most of the activities of the House of Representatives are now suspended, and we expect the budget to arrive after Eid al-Fitr,” noting that “delaying the budget causes a problem and paralysis in the movement of funds and economic matters.”
Economists believe that delaying the budget may affect the country’s economic situation and the progress of the urban process launched by the Iraqi government earlier, suggesting that there will be a large financial deficit in this version due to the addition of other service projects.
