The representative of the State of Law coalition, Hussein Ali Mardan, suggested, on Tuesday, that the Federal Supreme Court would issue a decision regarding the illegality of the first session of the House of Representatives, considering that all the procedures that took place in the absence of the age president are invalid.
Mardan said in a statement to “Al-Maalouma”, that “the Iraqi constitution stipulates that the session be held under the chairmanship of the oldest members to elect the speaker and his two deputies.”
He added that “the law defines the first session and is chaired by al-Mashhadani as the oldest member, and no one can hold the session instead of al-Mashhadani except in one case, which is al-Mashhadani’s loss of the conditions for membership in the House of Representatives.”
Mardan pointed out that “the first session is considered null and illegal and will be challenged before the judicial authorities,” stressing that “the coming hours, the Federal Supreme Court may issue its decision regarding the illegality of the first session of the House of Representatives.” finished/ 25 h
