Diaa al-Nasiri, a member of the State of Law Coalition, confirmed that the constitutional timelines give the forces of the Coordination Framework a deadline of about two months to decide on the selection of the next Prime Minister, stressing that the position will remain confined within the framework and without any external interference.
Al-Nasiri told Al-Maalouma that “the next prime minister will not step outside the coordination framework, as it is the largest political bloc and the most capable of managing the post-election phase,” indicating that “the results of the recent elections reflect a clear popular assessment of the performance of the current government.”
He added that “the experience of the government of Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani was not up to the required level, and if it had been truly successful, the Reconstruction and Development Alliance would not have obtained only 45 seats,” noting that “failures in the water and economy files were among the most prominent reasons for the decline in public confidence.”
Al-Nasiri pointed out that “resolving the issue of the Speaker of Parliament will directly contribute to accelerating the resolution of the remaining presidencies, especially the Presidency of the Republic and the Prime Ministership,” stressing that “the next stage requires internal political consensus away from regional or international pressures.”
He explained that “the coordination framework is currently working on developing internal understandings regarding the personality of the Prime Minister, taking into account the economic challenges, the scarcity of water resources, and the complexities of the regional landscape,” indicating that “the next government program should focus on economic reforms and managing service crises.”
