Asifa Abbas Qader, a member of the Rights Movement, confirmed on Tuesday that Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani is disrupting parliamentary sessions without clear justification, deeming him unqualified to manage the sessions.
Qader told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the continued disruption of parliament sessions undermines the prestige of the legislative institution and places the parliament’s presidency in an inappropriate position.”
She added, “This delay stems from personal motives and reflects Mashhadani’s lack of the necessary experience to manage the sessions, at a time when dozens of important laws are piling up and awaiting approval, including the Popular Mobilization Forces law.”
She pointed out that “Parliament is experiencing an unprecedented state of legislative stagnation, as a result of the continued suspension of sessions without convincing reasons.”
