Revealing the plan for the withdrawal of international coalition forces from IraqMember of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Ali Al Bandawi, revealed details of the plan for the withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq.

Al-Bandawi said, during his hosting on the {Free Talk} program broadcasted by Al-Furat satellite channel this evening, that: “The Iraqi negotiator succeeded in isolating Iraq from the escalation in the region, and will soon announce the schedule for the withdrawal of the international coalition forces from the country.”
He revealed “the withdrawal of the coalition forces to bases in Erbil as part of the scheduling plan,” attributing the reason for this to “monitoring the situation in the region and inside the country. ”
Al-Bandawi explained, “The exit of the international coalition forces from the country is linked to the improvement of the security situation in the country according to an Iraqi agreement, and we have extensive security contracts with the United States, and their separation requires time.”
He added, “The American forces are confined to military barracks in the Western Desert, the Green Zone, and Erbil,” stressing, “Iraq is currently secured with a modern radar system that monitors even within the borders of neighboring countries by more than 50 km, and we have new contracts to supply weapons.”
Al-Bandawi confirmed that “the Iraqi security forces are fully prepared to protect the territories and have the ability to confront dangers without the need for coalition forces.”
“The government did not interfere in setting the dates, and the withdrawal of coalition forces from Iraq was determined by the security committee tasked with scheduling the withdrawal,” he continued.
According to Al-Bandawi’s statement, “Iraq does not need security forces present, but rather equipping Iraqi forces with advanced equipment and strengthening air defense systems. We have more than 1.8 million fighters capable of protecting the country. We also have accurate information about the presence of terrorist elements in cooperation with the people.”
He concluded by saying, “American forces will be the last to withdraw from the international coalition forces, as they constitute the vast majority.”
An American report revealed on Sunday that Washington and Baghdad have reached an agreement on the withdrawal of American forces and other foreign forces from Iraq by the end of 2026.
American officials told the Wall Street Journal that hundreds of American and coalition forces stationed in Baghdad, western Iraq and other parts of the country will leave by next September, within a year, followed by the withdrawal of forces in Erbil by the end of the following year.
The officials added that the broad outlines of the withdrawal plan are complete, but some final details still need to be ironed out, especially with other members of the international coalition, and that even after 2026, a small American force is likely to remain in an advisory capacity to provide logistical support to American forces stationed in Syria under a new bilateral security agreement with Iraq.
