An informed source revealed, on Monday, the latest details of the negotiations of the joint committees regarding the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, while confirming that Washington is trying to circumvent the decision to remove American forces from the government and parliament.
The source said in an interview with the Al-Ma’louma Agency, “America is seeking to circumvent the ongoing negotiations by making the time periods for the removal of foreign forces range from 2 to 5 years,” noting that “Iraq’s position is firm by emphasizing the issue of the immediate withdrawal of combat forces.”
He continued, “What is delaying the start of the second round of joint committee negotiations is Washington’s efforts to pressure the inclusion of a long-term timetable,” pointing out that “the American military convoys moving between the governorates expose the seriousness of the United States of America in the ongoing negotiations.”
The source concluded his speech: “Washington is following a policy of manipulating statements and changing terminology in the exit file from Iraq,” adding that “America is trying to circumvent the decision to remove American forces from the government and parliament.”
A member of the House of Representatives, Thaer al-Jubouri, had confirmed in an interview with the Maalouma Agency that “the number of American forces present inside Iraqi territory exceeded 10,000 soldiers.”
