Qusay Mahbouba, a member of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, confirmed on Saturday that the coalition’s leader, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, is their candidate for the Iraqi government’s premiership.
Mahbouba said in a post on the “X” platform, “For two months I have been saying that Nouri al-Maliki is the candidate of the Dawa Party and the State of Law Coalition for the premiership.”
He added, “We in the Reconstruction and Development Coalition see this issue as important and call on the other blocs within the coordination framework to also present their candidates, especially those that have 25 seats or more.”
He continued: “In the reconstruction and development sector, we have 46 parliamentary seats and 1.3 million votes, and our candidate (for Prime Minister) is Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.”
