The Qatari Foreign Ministry warned on Tuesday of the repercussions of cutting off the internet in the region, stressing that all countries in the region, including Iran, would be affected.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry said in a statement seen by Shafaq News Agency that “all countries in the region, including Iran, will be affected if the internet is cut off,” referring to the potential repercussions of targeting the submarine internet cables that pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

She added that the solution to the crisis between the United States and Iran must be peaceful, stressing that reaching a solution sooner would be better, with the need to open the Strait of Hormuz and implement international laws relating to freedom of navigation.

The ministry stressed the need for Iran to stop its irresponsible attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, which it said harm the region and its people, and emphasized that a peaceful solution through negotiations is the only way to maintain the region’s security and stability.

The Qatari stance comes in the wake of Iranian threats to target submarine internet cables passing under the Strait of Hormuz, amid escalating regional tensions and fears that the confrontation could extend to communications infrastructure and digital services.
