Putin speaks of an “opportunity” to end the war with Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that there was a chance of reaching a peace agreement to end the war in Ukraine, stressing that the conflict must ultimately be resolved between Moscow and Kyiv.
Putin added during an economic forum in Russia’s Far East that a number of countries, including the United States and China, are ready to support efforts to reach a peaceful settlement, noting that US President Donald Trump is “ready to work constructively and positively for peace in Ukraine,” according to Reuters.
He added: “But ultimately, the two countries involved in the conflict – Russia and Ukraine – must resolve the problem. That is the right approach. Nevertheless, we are grateful to everyone who is trying to contribute to a settlement.”
He continued: “Is there a chance? In my opinion, yes, there is a chance.”
In a related context, Putin reiterated his accusations against Kyiv, considering its warnings about the risks that aircraft may face in Russian airspace as a form of “state terrorism”.
