Shafaq News/ Russian President Vladimir Putin issued directives on Monday to cease fire and suspend all military operations during the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day celebrations, for humanitarian reasons.
An official statement issued by the Kremlin, seen by Shafaq News Agency, stated that “the truce decision will go into effect from midnight on May 7th to 8th, and until midnight on May 10th to 11th,” stressing that “all combat operations will cease during this period.”
The statement called on the Ukrainian side to “take a similar step by declaring a ceasefire in respect of the anniversary,” while warning that “Russian forces will respond appropriately and decisively if the Ukrainian side violates the truce.”
Moscow also renewed its call, through the statement, for peace negotiations with Ukraine without preconditions, affirming its readiness to address the root causes of the crisis through dialogue and to work constructively with international partners to reach a comprehensive and sustainable settlement.
