Today, Monday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, acknowledged the difficulty of the previous political stage, while confirming that he would announce his presidential program to all Iraqis, hoping to form a government as soon as possible.
Rasheed said during the ceremonies of his assumption of the presidency at the Peace Palace, that “the previous stage was difficult for everyone,” stressing that “it is close to announcing his program to manage the next stage.”
He added, “I am seeking to establish strong relations with neighboring countries and the international community,” hoping that “the new government will be formed quickly to meet the citizens’ demands.”
Rashid pledged to “make every effort to protect the constitution, solve existing problems, and work to consolidate the relationship between Baghdad and Erbil and establish balanced regional relations.”
Rashid also thanked “all political leaders, and the rational reference for giving him the confidence of the post of President of the Republic.”
Last Thursday, the House of Representatives elected Abdul Latif Rashid as President of the Republic, after obtaining a majority in the second round of the voting process for the position in which he competed with candidate Barham Salih.
