The head of the organizing body of the popular movement for the Belt and Road, Hussein Ali, confirmed that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has opened the door to American interference in internal affairs in order to serve his projects, most notably supporting his continued hold on power.
Ali told Al-Maalomah that “Al-Sudani has opened the door to American projects and the Trump administration’s interventions in Iraqi internal affairs, and has moved towards normalization projects in order to serve his interests and ensure external support to remain in power.”
He added that “the United States and the Trump administration in particular are exerting pressure on the coordinating framework in order to present al-Sudani as a candidate for prime minister, renew his term, and keep him in office for a new term.”
He explained that “al-Sudani’s intentions were clear through his actions, which included moving towards the West, supporting normalization peace projects, shaking hands with al-Julani, opening the door to American investments, and providing a safe environment for American companies to operate within Iraq.”
