Nizar Haider, director of the Iraqi Media Center in Washington, revealed on Saturday that arranging two calls between Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and the US administration regarding the renewal of his second term cost $10 million, without achieving any tangible progress in this regard.

Haider told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “President Trump’s envoy, Mark Savia, arranged two calls for the Sudanese with the US administration, each call costing $5 million, bringing the total to $10 million, without additional information about the amount Savia received for this task.”

He added that “Safia received the agreed amount from Al-Sudani to open communication channels with senior officials in the White House to convince them to renew the second term, and he also received huge sums of money in exchange for other services provided by Al-Sudani and other officials, without disclosing details of the sums, which were estimated at millions of dollars.”

He noted that “however, these large sums in hard currency (dollars) did not lead to Sudan receiving the American green light for a second term.”
