The independent politician Ahmar Oraibi revealed, on Thursday, that Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi spent 80 million dollars to buy the debts of Sunni representatives in order to win the presidency of Parliament, indicating that some representatives received 200 thousand dollars, while others received luxury cars.
Oreibi said in a televised interview, which was followed by “The Information”, that “some representatives of the Sunni component were bought with 200 thousand dollars to go with the Halbousi bloc, and another section took a car with 50 thousand dollars.”
He added, “The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, spent $80 million on the elections, and the least deputy candidate nominated by al-Halbousi to parliament gave him $500,000 as electoral campaign expenses.”
Oreibi asked, “Is it reasonable for the Iraqi parliament to lead a man who does not understand anything about politics?”, noting that “the disintegration of the Shiite component contributed to Al-Halbousi’s rise to the presidency of the parliament.” End / 25 D
