Political Analyst: - The judiciary has the final word on the manual counting and sorting of polling resultsPolitical analyst Muhammad Karim Al-Saadi confirmed, on Thursday, that the judiciary has the final word on recounting and manual counting of all ballot boxes, pointing out that Parliament cannot hold its first session and then go towards dissolving itself to hold other elections.

Al-Saadi said in a statement to “Al-Maalouma”, that “the Iraqi law is clear and stipulates that elections be held every four years, and therefore it is not possible to hold a parliament session and form a new government, and then go to the parliament’s vote to dissolve itself.”

He added, “The safest and closest option to spare Iraq from entering into a political crisis is to move towards manual counting and sorting of all polling stations, and this option is directly related to the judicial decision.”

Al-Saadi indicated that “the political situation may be settled by all political parties sitting at the dialogue table, to form a consensus government in which the rights of all parties participating in the political process are guaranteed.”
