Security expert Qatari al-Samarmad revealed on Friday that the international coalition forces have begun reducing their forces at Ain al-Asad Air Base, west of Anbar province, as a precautionary measure against potential Iranian missile attacks.
Al-Samarmad told Al-Maalouma News Agency, “The international coalition forces stationed at the Ain al-Assad base in the al-Baghdadi area of Hit district began airlifting a number of their soldiers out of Iraq, hours after US forces carried out a similar withdrawal.”
He added that “the drawdown process aims to minimize potential human and material losses in the event of a missile attack on the base,” noting that “the sudden withdrawal included forces of multiple nationalities, without any official clarification from the coalition leadership.”
He stressed that this move comes as part of precautionary measures taken by the international coalition forces as a result of escalating regional tensions, noting that the situation remains unclear regarding the extent of the withdrawal and redeployment plans.
