Member of the Parliamentary Oil and Natural Resources Committee, Basem Naghmesh, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the Kurdistan Region is obligated to hand over oil revenues to the federal government, according to the agreement signed between the two parties.
Naghmesh said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The Kurdistan Region produces more than 280,000 barrels per day, and is obligated to hand over 230,000 barrels per day, as stipulated in the agreement with Baghdad,” noting that “the Federal Court has settled this file and confirmed the region’s obligation to pay its owed oil revenues to the federal government.”
He added, “The handover includes revenues from oil exports, in addition to other obligations incumbent on the regional government, as agreed upon.”
