The Parliamentary Services Committee confirmed on Wednesday that the three-year budget for 2023-2025, approved by the House of Representatives, did not achieve its objectives in supporting the services sector due to the failure to provide financial allocations for projects included in the budgets of ministries or regions.

Committee member MP Suad Abdul Hussein told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the three-year budget did not achieve its desired goals, especially in the service sector, due to a lack of funding and a delay in submitting disbursement schedules.”

She added, “Most of the projects included in the budget are still stalled or stalled, reflecting a significant flaw in their implementation on the ground. The continuation of this situation makes it unfeasible to submit a new three-year budget using the same approach.”

Abdul Hussein considered that “the government’s failure to send the current year’s budget disbursement schedules constitutes a negligence and a legal violation, for which it should be held accountable.”

In the same context, MP Mohammed Al-Ziyadi described the delay in submitting the 2025 budget schedules and exceeding two-thirds of the year without finalizing them as “unjustified,” calling on the government to clarify the reasons for the delay and officially inform the House of Representatives.
