Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, MP Mahdi Taqi, confirmed today, Saturday, that the Iraqi security forces, including the army, the federal police, and the Popular Mobilization Forces, are at the highest level of readiness to confront any aggression that the country may be exposed to.
Taqi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, that “the withdrawal of US forces comes within a previous agreement between Iraq and the United States, after the security leaders confirmed the ability of their forces from the army, the federal police, and the Popular Mobilization Forces to assume the tasks of defending the country.”
He added, “The withdrawal of US forces from Iraq will contribute to strengthening the strength and stability of the country, as it frees the security decision-making from any external interference, and is a vital step towards achieving national sovereignty.”
Taqi considered that “the withdrawal of US forces is an important step towards achieving national sovereignty.”
