Head of the parliamentary Huqooq bloc, Saud Al-Saadi, affirmed on Thursday that no part of Iraqi land or water will be relinquished to Kuwait, stressing that the Khor Abdullah issue represents a “red line.”
Al-Saadi told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “Khor Abdullah is part of Iraqi land and water, and we will not relinquish a single inch of it to Kuwait,” adding that “giving up this land is a betrayal of the national interest and cannot be accepted under any circumstances.”
Al-Saadi continued, saying, “The Huqooq bloc stood with the Iraqi masses near the Federal Court for two reasons: first, to support the court’s decision to annul the Khor Abdullah agreement, and second, we rejected the move called for by the president and prime minister to annul the Federal Court’s decision declaring the agreement invalid.”
Al-Saadi stressed that “the Huqooq bloc will not relinquish any part of Iraq’s land or wealth, stressing that their position comes in response to political positions that he described as ‘shameful’.”
