MP Haider Mohammed Al-Mutairi submitted an official request to the House of Representatives Presidency to host the Minister of Finance in a public session under the dome of Parliament to explain the reasons for the delay in submitting the 2025 budget schedules.

The request, stated that the session aims to clarify the reasons for the delay in sending the schedules.

The Parliamentary Finance Committee hosted Finance Minister Taif Sami on July 20, 2025, to discuss three main topics, including the implementation of the government program, an assessment of the progress made in implementing the Federal Budget Law for the years 2023–2025, and follow-up on the preparation of the 2025 budget schedules.

Sami informed the committee during the meeting that a special government committee, formed by a decision of the Prime Minister, was currently preparing detailed schedules for the new budget. She noted that the delay in submitting the budget was due to fluctuating oil prices and the failure to resolve disputes with the Kurdistan Region, which had negatively impacted funding for the federal budget and the implementation of some financial obligations.

The 2025 budget is part of the three-year federal budget law (2023–2025), which was approved by Parliament in June 2023, for the first time in a three-year format.

This law requires the government to submit detailed tables for each year, including revenues, expenditures, and financing plans.

However, the delay in submitting the 2025 schedules has sparked widespread parliamentary criticism due to its direct impact on the disbursement of bonuses, promotions, and employee transfers, in addition to the disruption of government service and development programs.
