Member of the Strategic Planning Committee in the House of Representatives, Representative Suad Al-Maliki, confirmed today, Saturday, that the three-year budget did not achieve its desired goals, noting that the government is still working with the 2023 budget despite more than two years having passed since the approval of the extended budget.
Al-Maliki said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency that the government did not adhere to what was planned in the three-year budget and is still actually working according to the 2023 budget without providing convincing explanations for this.
She added that “the budget’s failure to achieve its goals is due to several reasons, most notably the government’s delay in providing financial allocations to ministries and regions, in addition to the delay in sending detailed tables for the annual budgets, especially the 2025 budget tables, which have not yet reached Parliament.”
Al-Maliki expressed her surprise at the government’s silence and failure to provide clear explanations regarding this delay, considering that what is happening represents a major flaw in the budget implementation mechanism.
