The Parliamentary Legal Committee revealed, on Sunday, that a meeting is expected to complete the electoral law.
According to the official agency, Member of the Committee, MP Al-Ghazzi, said, “The Legal Committee is awaiting the session of the Council of Representatives to complete the electoral districts of the electoral law and sending it to the Presidency of the Republic for approval.”
Regarding the amendment of the electoral law, Al-Ghazi indicated that “the law has not yet completed the legislative procedures, as it has not been ratified by the Presidency of the Republic, and it has not been published in the Official Gazette until amendments are made to it.”
The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, and the First Vice-President of the Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, have stressed the need to expedite the approval of the election law, to ensure that a date is set for early elections that are transparent and allow fair participation by citizens.
