A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Representative Mudar Al-Karawi, confirmed, on Wednesday, that the deficit in the 2023 budget is a matter of concern.
Al-Karawi said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “the 2023 budget will reach the House of Representatives within the next 48 hours, among which it will be discussed in the Finance Committee in an extensive manner, with the hosting of ministers and government institutions in order to create opinions that contribute to reaching agreed-upon points.”
He added, “What raises our concern in the 2023 budget is the large size of the fiscal deficit, which must be sought to reduce and work to develop other financial resources that contribute to facing any sudden drop in oil selling prices, which currently constitutes a percentage that may reach 90% of the country’s annual revenues.” .
And the Council of Ministers approved the 2023 budget at its session last Tuesday, with a value of about 200 trillion dinars, which is the highest in the country’s history at all.
