Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mahasen Hamdoun, revealed today, Wednesday, that governorate allocations and the deficit impede the completion of the budget, while noting that not approving it before the end of the legislative term will push it to be postponed until after Eid Al-Adha.

Hamdoun said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency that the deficit in the 2024 budget reaches 68 trillion dinars, indicating that the 2024 budget differs from last year’s budget.

She added that “the main problems facing the budget are the governorate allocations and the deficit,” noting that “the Parliamentary Finance Committee is continuing its work to complete the budget schedules as quickly as possible.”

She pointed out that “failing to vote on the schedules before the end of the legislative term will push them to be postponed until after Eid al-Adha.”
