Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Moeen Al-Kadhimi, accused the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Sunday of failing to honor its financial commitments to the central government. He noted that Baghdad has fulfilled all its legal and constitutional obligations, while Erbil has continued its policy of evasion and procrastination.
Al-Kadhimi told Al-Maalouma News Agency, “The federal government has transferred the financial dues allocated to the region in accordance with the budget provisions, including employee salaries,” stressing that “the regional government has not, for its part, committed to delivering oil and non-oil revenues, as stipulated by law.”
He added, “The regional government’s continued breach of agreements and lack of transparency in resource management hinders the federal government’s efforts to regulate fiscal policy fairly across all governorates.”
Al-Kadhimi indicated that “the Parliamentary Finance Committee is closely monitoring this issue and will not allow the continued encroachment on public funds and the deprivation of other governorates of their rights in favor of narrow partisan interests.”
