Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mu’in al-Kadhim, confirmed on Tuesday that the Kurdistan Region lacks credibility in dealing with the oil revenue file, indicating that the crisis remains unresolved.
Al-Kadhim told the Information Agency, “The region has not yet adhered to previous agreements regarding the transfer of oil revenues to the federal government, which deepens the financial disputes between Baghdad and Erbil.” He explained that “the lack of transparency and credibility on the part of the region has made it difficult to reach real solutions to this crisis.”
He added that “the federal government is required to take clear and decisive measures to ensure that oil revenues reach the state treasury, thus achieving fairness in the distribution of wealth among all the people of Iraq.”
Earlier, the head of the Central and Southern Alliance, Yasser Hashim, confirmed that the federal government “does not possess accurate data on the companies contracted in the Kurdistan Region, nor the nature of the agreements concluded with them,” warning of the danger this issue poses to the legal and financial sovereignty of the state.
