Member of the Finance Committee Mustafa Al-Karaawi explained today, Monday, that the government has not sent the Maronite tables yet, while indicating that there is a real problem in the issue of funding. Al-Karaawi stated in an interview with Al-Sumaria Channel that “the fiscal year is still in effect and there is a real problem in the issue of funding,” noting that the Maronite tables are supposed to be sent before the end of the fiscal year, but the fiscal year is still in effect and the problem is in the cash available in the Ministry of Finance, which has greatly affected the financing of the investment budget.
He added, “The allocations included in the budget are very high and can be financed, and therefore there will be contractual financial obligations that the government is unable to finance, and therefore may lead to a future deficit and economic problems.”
He explained that the Financial Management Law indicated that the budget tables must be sent before December 1, but we exceeded this date and the government did not send the budget tables, but rather sent the text of the amendment to Article 12. Therefore, we submitted an objection within the Finance Committee and a letter to the Presidency of the Council to re-amend, so that it would be re-sent by the government, including the budget tables, so that there would be implementation of the laws in force and adherence to the constitutional financial timings.
