Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Moeen Al-Kadhimi, ruled out on Wednesday the passing of the budget tables or their transmission from the government to Parliament, pointing to the procrastination of the House of Representatives as the parliamentary elections approach.
Al-Kadhimi told Al-Maalouma, “The federal budget tables have gone through a period of ebb and flow at the Ministry of Finance and the submission of reports to the government, as the Prime Minister issued a directive to the ministry to be patient with these tables.”
He added, “The ministries and governorates are still receiving their financial allocations from the government, as funding is provided according to the available funds at the Ministry of Finance.”
He explained that “the procrastination in the House of Representatives did not leave an opportunity to send the budget tables from the government for approval, especially since the compass is currently pointing towards the electoral file with the parliamentary elections approaching next November.”
