Parliamentary Economic Committee begins collecting signatures to withdraw the hand of the Director of Iraqi PortsShafaq News/ The Parliamentary Economic Committee revealed, on Tuesday, that it has begun collecting signatures from representatives to withdraw the hand of the Director of the General Company for Iraqi Ports due to financial corruption files estimated at billions of dinars.

Committee member Yasser Al-Hussaini told Shafaq News Agency, “There are many violations in the General Company for Iraqi Ports, the latest of which was what appeared in the media of documents condemning the company and its director for manipulating public money and spending money outside the controls.”

He explained that “the director of the ports company spent an amount of 303 million dinars to purchase a UPS device for the office of the assistant general manager of the company, and also violated the laws and spent an amount of 200 million dinars for a hospital, excluding the company’s board of directors from the decisions.”

Al-Hussaini confirmed, “We have collected signatures from members of the House of Representatives and submitted a letter to the Prime Minister to withdraw the Director General of Ports until the investigation committee completes its procedures.”

It is noteworthy that many representatives, especially representatives of Basra Governorate, had previously revealed in statements the existence of financial corruption files worth billions of dinars that incriminate the Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartousi, and they announced at the time a movement to withdraw Al-Fartousi’s hand from the management of the company and open investigations by the Integrity Commission.
