The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee confirmed, on Sunday, that Iraq possesses an air defense missile system to protect the airspace from any violation that may occur in the coming days, in light of the tensions witnessed in the region.
Committee member Ali Al-Bandawi told Al-Maalouma, “Iraqi territory does not represent an easy target for the Zionist enemy, especially since there are defenses and air cover through the presence of early detection systems that cover Iraq and within neighboring countries as well.”
He added, “Iraq has radar coverage to detect any airspace violation, in order to address the situation and secure the country’s skies from any violation that may occur, especially in light of the tensions witnessed in the region.”
He explained that “the security services have a missile system that was recently obtained for air defense and to ensure the security of the airspace,” noting that “the leaders of the security services, during their presence in the parliamentary security committee, confirmed their readiness to deal with any emergency that may occur.”
