Today, Tuesday, the member of the House of Representatives for the Sadiqoun bloc, Zainab Al-Moussawi, stressed the necessity of withdrawing American forces from Iraq to preserve the country’s national security.
Al-Moussawi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, “The success of the security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces in defeating the terrorist organization ISIS and liberating the provinces that it controlled years ago proved that Iraq now has a shield and a sword, and the American forces at that time had no significant role,” expressing her surprise at “the continued presence of American forces on Iraqi territory” despite that.
She added, “The presence of US forces is not only a threat to Iraqi national security, but also threatens the country’s sovereignty, and their withdrawal is inevitable and necessary.”
Recently, parliamentary and political calls have increased for the government to take firm measures against the US forces’ violation of the security agreement between Baghdad and Washington and their allowing the Zionist entity’s fighters to penetrate Iraqi airspace.
