Member of the House of Representatives, Jassem Atwan, revealed, on Sunday, new parliamentary proposals to reduce the deficit in the general budget, indicating that the budget reached the House of Representatives with a large financial deficit, and the directions of the political blocs will lead to reducing this deficit.
Atwan said in an interview with the information agency, “There are many parliamentary proposals from the parliamentary blocs to reduce the deficit, not to go to borrowing, both internally and externally,” pointing out that “there are new proposals to reduce the deficit rate that are being studied.”
And he went on: “The Finance Committee prepared a complete study to come up with a deficit that spares Iraq the consequences of high budget numbers,” noting that “the latter reached the House of Representatives with a large financial deficit and the orientations of the political blocs will lead to a reduction in this deficit.”
And Atwan concluded his speech: “All proposals stipulate an attempt to spare Iraq going to loans and financial burdens by reducing the ceiling of expenditures that may appear in the event that the budget is approved in this way.”
A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Jamal Cougar, had revealed, in an interview with the information agency, a “parliamentary move to reduce the deficit percentage in the draft general budget law,” explaining that the percentage of reduction has not been determined yet, but work continues on that before proceeding to pass the budget. “.
