MP Jawad Al-Yassari confirmed today, Sunday, that the election of a new Speaker of the House of Representatives will pave the way for passing many of the stalled laws, while he indicated that legislative work will return to its correct path.
The leftist said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The priorities of the House of Representatives in the coming days after the election of the Speaker of Parliament will be to pass the controversial laws as well as activate the role of interpellations within Parliament,” noting that “Al-Mashhadani will have a role in bringing viewpoints closer together regarding the controversial laws as he will pave the way for passing many of them.”
He added, “The Presidency has been successfully completed after overcoming a phase of conflicts to return things to the right track,” explaining that “the coming days require agreements and meetings between the political parties in order to resolve the controversial files related to the laws.”
The House of Representatives had earlier settled the issue of the position of the Speaker of the House, granting confidence to Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani after two rounds of voting.
