Parliament refuses to sell Iraqi oil to Jordan and Egypt at almost free pricesOn Thursday, a member of the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, Nada Shaker Jawdat, refused to sell Iraqi oil to Jordan and Egypt at preferential prices, calling for the revival of the Iraqi industry .

Jawdat said; “Iraq should invest crude oil in Iraqi refineries and petrochemical plants through the production of oil derivatives, plastics and detergents to get as much money as possible instead of selling crude oil at almost free prices to Jordan and Egypt .”

She added, “Both Jordan and Egypt obtain oil from Iraq at preferential prices to build power stations and produce petrochemical materials, to sell energy and oil derivatives to Iraq for billions of dollars .”

She pointed out that “it is not difficult for a country like Iraq, rich in oil and primary resources, to establish power stations, as it has all the ingredients and manpower to establish these stations, and therefore we will be able to meet the local demand for energy without importing this energy from neighboring countries .”

Jawdat demanded “the revival of Iraqi industry and the operation of laboratories to restore the country’s economic development and eliminate unemployment, and not to take hard currency abroad.”
