Al-Salihi said in an interview with the “Information” agency, “Negotiations are continuing between the Patriotic Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party regarding the presidency of the republic, with the intervention of the heads of Shiite and Sunni blocs in bringing the views of the two parties closer.”
He added, “The political blocs agreed to resolve the file of the Presidency of the Republic, choose a specific person, and set next Thursday the date for electing the President of the Republic, and this is what was included in the session’s agenda.”
The representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance explained that “the election session for the President of the Peace Palace will witness the achievement of the two-thirds quorum required to pass the president, according to the agreement concluded between all the political blocs, including the coordination framework, the Sunnis and the Kurds.”
The Kurdistan Democratic Party revealed to “Information” that there is a final and decisive agreement with the National Union regarding the file of the Presidency of the Republic, while stressing that the tripartite delegation’s visit to Erbil showed many positive outcomes, including the settlement of the name of the President of the “Peace Palace”.
