On Saturday, the House of Representatives held its first session of the second legislative term of the fourth legislative year.
The parliament’s media department said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, “The parliament’s session of the second legislative term of the fourth legislative year was attended by 175 representatives.”
She added, “Qastal Abu Talib Zahir took the constitutional oath to replace Walid Al-Sahlani as deputy.”
The House of Representatives published the session’s agenda, which includes seven items, after the end of the legislative recess for members of the House on Wednesday, July 9.
In a statement issued last Tuesday, Al-Mashhadani called on all political blocs and representatives, including independents, to assume their national responsibilities and attend sessions during the final legislative term, stressing that participation is a constitutional duty that strengthens the public’s confidence in the legislative institution.
Al-Mashhadani stressed the importance of cooperation to enact overdue laws that impact citizens’ lives. He called for prioritizing the national interest and overcoming differences to ensure political stability ahead of the upcoming legislative elections.
