Data from Kpler, a maritime traffic tracking website, showed on Saturday that no oil tankers had left the Strait of Hormuz for the third day in a row, a development reflecting the continued disruption to shipping in one of the world’s most important energy transit routes.
This halt comes amid escalating military tensions in the region and continued tit-for-tat strikes between Iran and the United States, raising growing concerns about the security of navigation and global oil supplies.
Previous data from Kpler had shown a sharp decline in commercial ship traffic through the strait, as a number of shipping companies refrained from crossing due to increasing security risks.
On Friday night, several Iranian regions witnessed a new series of explosions, including five strikes heard on the outskirts of the city of Yazd in central Iran, and an American missile attack targeting sites around Ahvaz, coinciding with the announcement by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard that two oil tankers were hit by an explosion as a result of a “sea mine”.
In response, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Saturday that it had carried out attacks targeting American military and logistical facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.
