Member of the Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Basem Al-Gharibawi, ruled out, on Saturday, the enactment of the Oil and Gas Law in its current form, noting that it faces many disagreements within the House of Representatives.
Al-Gharibawi told Al-Maalouma Agency, “The failure to pass the federal oil and gas law created a problem and confusion as a result of the political dispute between Baghdad and Kurdistan, which negatively affects the oil policy in the country.”
He added that “the law is still in place due to disagreements between political forces regarding its passage, noting that there are points of contention that hinder the legislation of the law within the House of Representatives.”
He added, “The law has been facing political disputes since 2005, despite the presentation of a unified draft by the committees formed between the region and the center.”
